Perfect Game Youth Bats Banned

As of April 24, 2017, the following bats will no longer be allowed at PG, PGBA, or Super25 events.  These bats failed their audits for the Bat Performance Factor (BPF) 1.15 rating.  BPF is simply the increase in the liveliness of a ball hitting a bat compared to throwing a ball against a solid wall. The bat restrictions have been updated.  This should only affect age 12 and below.

Racing The Years

For the 8th time, people will gather and share a morning running or walking in downtown Roanoke, Indiana.  Our kids went to Roanoke Elementary School and the Discover Roanoke race helped fund extra materials and resources for teachers and students.  Those additional books in the library and the gifts for the 5th graders graduating to middle school were supported in part by the race.  Although the kids have changed, the parent teacher organization still uses the money raised to pour back into the students. Some things never change.

We are in the final preparations for the 10k and 5k races that begin at 9 AM and the 1 mile race that starts at 9:05 AM.  The volunteers are getting their assignments and the routes are getting marked.  We once again sense the excitement of the participants.  Some have been with us the entire way while others are going to experience the atmosphere for the first time.

We want to thank our old friends and new friends alike who come together in sometimes beautiful and sometimes not so nice weather to support the kids and enjoy a day on the race course.  We thank you for spending one of your April Saturday mornings with us and others who enjoy the challenge of the race or just the great conversation that is found along the way.  A big thank you goes to the community support as well. Bippus State Bank, Parkview Physicians Group, Dick's Sporting Goods, Dr. Amy Welker, Fleet Feet Sports, and Ironclad Excavating .  In-kind sponsors include Subway of Roanoke and Rolling Pin Bakehouse.

The proverb says that "It takes a village to raise a child".  In our case, these kids have the support of thousands!  Thank You!
